IME, it's all volunteer groups that do TNR (so far!). If you google TNR (your county or town)_ you might have someone local who could help.
I am fully a crazy cat lady, but not stalkery, so if you wanna PM me via FB, I would be happy to lend a virtual hand. If not, I totally get that too. Just leave a passive aggressive message at the neighbor's houses about getting "their" cats fixed or, ya know, something similar. Not that I've EVER done anything like that . . .
P.s. I'm Jennine on FB if that wasn't obvious :)Jenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05697330978270226243noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-299854374936415951.post-76140848885165428612015-03-13T15:09:45.503-04:002015-03-13T15:09:45.503-04:00First, my apologies for the delay in my reply, Jen...First, my apologies for the delay in my reply, Jen. I *thought* from your info that I'd make a few calls and POOOF(!) problem solved.

Reality: I was advised by the local Humane Society that my 'solutions' include; trying orange peels and/or coffee grounds, as apparently cats don't care for them. Or. OR!! I can catch the cats and bring them in. (Me: "...So just to make sure I understand correctly, your recommendation is that I go outside and attempt to catch free-range cats?" [silence] Humane Society: Or you could buy some traps.)

That was the *help* locally available for such feline fiascos ...Needless to say, things ain't goin' great. :/ I am currently waiting to hear from the City code enforcement officer to see if there's an angle there to address the matter. Good. Fucking. Grief.

I really do appreciate your help! I'm ...I'm not sure what the laws are in OH. I'm outside Chicago and we have some really great TNR (trap neuter release) programs. Cats are trapped and taken in for vaccinations and spay/ neuter, ear-tipped and returned (unless friendly, then they try to find them a home). Warm shelters are also provided and a local person is designated as a "colony caretaker". Probably more than. You wanted to know :)
That said, this is specific to FERAL colonies. Some asshole who claims they have an "outdoor pet" who is not cared for in the above manner is an irresponsible jerk. If the cat is remotely friendly, it is not feral and should be kept indoors.
/rant.
I've helped TNR, foster cats regularly, and volunteer with a local no-kill shelter and these people make me INSANE!
now /rant
;DJenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05697330978270226243noreply@blogger.com
